The Land
Our Corner of the North Country
Nestled in the St. Lawrence Valley of Northern New York, Ortman Farms sits on land that has been lovingly cared for since 1977. What started as 166 acres purchased by Loren Ortman has grown into a thriving family farm where rolling pastures meet dense woodlands.
We partner with New York Soil and Water Conservation to implement sustainable, eco-friendly practices across all of our operations. The land sustains us, and we are committed to sustaining it for future generations.
The Animals
Raised with Respect
At Ortman Farms, every animal has a name. This is not just a tradition, it is a reflection of the deep respect and responsibility we feel toward the animals that sustain our family and our community.
Our cattle graze on open pastures, our pigs root and roam, and our chickens have the space to live as nature intended. Ethical care is not a marketing buzzword for us. It is how we have always done things.

Michael Ortman
Owner, Ortman Farms
Sole owner of Ortman Dairy, LLC (est. 1984), which does business as Ortman Farms. Passionate about ethical farming, community, and bringing the North Country the freshest products possible.
Mallory Ortman
Community Outreach & Brand Design
Michael's sister, Mallory ensures everything Ortman Farms puts out looks and works its best. With a keen eye for design — she's also a professional interior decorator — Mallory reviews materials, tests new ideas, and helps create the brand's visual identity for community outreach.
Lindsay Stolpestad
Newsletter Writer
Michael's sister, Lindsay authors the monthly Ortman Farms newsletter, keeping customers informed about farm updates, seasonal offerings, and the stories behind the products.
Amy Strong
Operations & Social Media Manager
Manages orders, deliveries, and day-to-day operations. Also serves as the social media manager, keeping the Ortman Farms community connected and engaged.
Sean Beaty
Technology & Digital
Builds everything you see online and digitally for Ortman Farms. Sean has been with the company since the Ortman Farms name was established in late 2020, when the business rebranded from Ortman Dairy to expand beyond dairy.
Hunter Cabaniss
Delivery Driver
Handles local deliveries across St. Lawrence and Franklin counties, ensuring your farm-fresh products arrive on time.
Tom Boice
Sales & Community Outreach
Our door knocker and community connector. Tom takes orders at the Kinney Drugs parking lot and handles door-to-door outreach across the region.
Founding Farmers
Cynthia & Loren Ortman
Founding Farmers
Loren purchased the original 166 acres in 1977 and established the farm in 1981. Together with his wife Cynthia, they built Ortman Dairy from the ground up — raising three children on the farm, growing the herd from just nine dairy cows, and laying the foundation for everything Ortman Farms is today. Their vision and dedication created a lasting family legacy.
